History

Three decades on — from a trading company in Hong Kong to four business lines today.

Founded in Hong Kong in 1992, the FANGCAN trademark registered in 2009, a company and a Tmall flagship store in Shishi in 2012, a marketing centre in Xiamen in 2017, and a deliberate narrowing of the range in 2019. None of these moves was dramatic on its own, but the direction has never wavered: build the product, open the channel, establish the brand.

Milestones

1992

Founded in Hong Kong

Fangcan Group Limited is established in Hong Kong, starting out in the international trade of sporting goods and household textiles, supplying overseas brands on a contract basis.

1992–2009

Seventeen years of manufacturing

The business grows on OEM/ODM contract work and international trade, building up a complete capability from product development and sampling through to volume delivery. Factories are located in both Fujian and Shanghai during this period, with a range covering sporting goods as well as household textiles.

Jun 2009

FANGCAN trademark registeredBrand origin

The FANGCAN trademark is registered. Brand thinking came before the channel — three years of product and supply-chain preparation passed between the trademark filing and the first flagship store going live.

Jun 2012

Shishi company established

Shishi Fangcan Commerce and Trade Co., Ltd. is established in Shishi, Quanzhou, Fujian, becoming the group's domestic operating and quality-control entity and giving the brand its own operating organisation.

Sep 2012

Into domestic e-commerceTurning point

The FANGCAN flagship store opens on Tmall, marking the move from pure export manufacturing into the domestic market and own-brand retail. The store launches three months after the company is set up — the decisive step from maker to brand.

Aug 2017

Xiamen company established

Xiamen Fangcan Trading Co., Ltd. is established in Xiamen, Fujian, taking on the group's marketing centre role and forming a dual-centre structure with Shishi as the quality-control base — marketing moves upstream.

Oct 2019

Capacity and range adjustment

The Shanghai plant shifts from own-operated to a partnership arrangement, and the product range is narrowed to focus on rackets, balls, grips and protective gear — a deliberate subtraction, going deeper on quality and delivery with fewer lines.
